] >> several questions in today's briefing about the resignation of general david petraeus, director of the c.i.a. the national journal reports that michael morel, the acting director of the c.i.a., was at capitol hill early this afternoon. he's been there, at least one stop involved visiting minority leader nancy pelosi. mr. morel will testify later this week as both the house and senate intelligence committees hold hearings on the benghazi attack. both the house and senate are gaveling in in about 12 minutes or so. the u.s. house coming in at 2:00. four items on their agenda this afternoon. they will gavel back out shortly thereafter. we expect them back at about 4:30 or so. a number of new members will be sworn in. we'll have live coverage. the senate meanwhile comes in this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. as well. they take up a bill dealing with hunting and fishing on federal lands. we'll have live coverage of the senate on c-span2. also coming up this afternoon, a number of house -- new house members, democratic members will be meeting with reporters and also nancy pelosi will be at that brief

of calls in the press about this. i called david petraeus. as a matter of fact, i had an appointment with him at 3:00 that afternoon. it was canceled. when these questions came up, obviously at took the action myself to try to find out. and then i informed my vice- chairman and i talked to the director twice. this is very hard stuff. host: we are getting your thoughts on the fallout from that announcement. billy, lady lake, florida. caller: good morning. it is a real mixed bag of feelings about things like this. this guy is the head of the cia, and it took us months to find this out? i was trained as a military combat medic, vietnam, and i am gay. i worked in the surgery street -- suite of the recovery unit. two investigators remove me from that unit. each of them had a hand on my shoulder, one on my arm, parading me out of the hospital because they suspected i was gay. when it comes to things like this, i am sorry the gentleman has had problems, but the government never surprises me. host: thank you for the call from florida this morning. we also want to take you to anita, chapel hi

that david petraeus will testify tomorrow before a closed door hearing. that will be before the senate intelligence committee. also reports today on the foreign relations committee, senator -- secretary of state hillary clinton will testify before that committee in an open hearing sometime in december. no date was announced. we'll keep you posted on that. while we wait for the house to gavel in at noon eastern, part of this morning's "washington journal" with retiring republican representative from texas, ron paul. host: what do you think can happen? what do you want to see happen? guest: well, there are lots of things i want to happen? i've been waiting for 30 years and i haven't seen anything happen. i have two weeks left to solve these problems. i don't think much will happen. the real solutions aren't even discussed. what they do in january, they'll paper it over -- give some type of an agreement that they'll solve the problems later and appease a few people and i don't think a major calamity is going to happen, you know, in january. it will be temporary. what we hear and when we h
